Applied Geometry Having grown up around geometric abstract art since I was very young it was unsurprising at first when it began weaving its way into some of my photographs. Often going unnoticed by me until pointed out by my peers. As time went on I became fascinated by the idea of using the aesthetics and ideas of geometric abstract painting as basis for translating experience into image.
The photos in this study hang no importance on subject matter but instead present the viewer with compositions lifted directly from the everyday scenes from one life. Using strong shapes and flat color geometric abstract painters explored their medium's appearance apart from its ability to represent "real" objects. In the same way the images shown here emphasize the two-dimensionality of the photograph as an object and exploit that to create compositions echoing the same abstract style as seen emerging in the early and middle parts of the last century.
